September 2009
As a warm up to the main event, Tour de Force will be supplying 2 crew and a landrover to be part of the support team for the UK to Casablanca rally in November
November 2009
We are back from the rally. 50 classic cars from 1925 to the present day, from UK to Marrakech over 10 days.
The cars lined up at Dover for the ferry. Here's a selection of some of the beautiful cars on display:
Bentley
Rolls Royce
Oldsmobile
Jaguar
Myself and Jim were marshals, we even had badges that said as much.....
Although we were new to the rallying scene, it wasn't long before we were up and running as checkpoint officials, setting up are various points along the route to time the cars:
Jim manning the checkpoint in the mountains outside Meknes
Besides our marshaling duites, we were instrumental in getting all the vehicles and crews into Morocco through the somewhat chaotic border at Tangiers. We were also glad to be of help after a few incidents on the road, including this head-on collision with a local vehicle, luckily no-one was injured:
All the usual police forms to be filled in...
Tour de Force support vehicle giving a gratefully received tow back to the nightstop.
All in all it was a great experience and we are glad to report that as a consequence of our work on the Casablanca Rally, Tour de Force have been invited to join the organisation team for the epic Peking to Paris in 2010.
